David has headed the transformation of Bucknall Austin since the early 60's from a local quantity surveying practice into a successful worldwide practice. He led the management buyout of Bucknall Austin in 2003. He is chairman of the Birmingham Foundation and the West Midlands Constructing Excellence forum.

He is an avid Football fan and has supported Wolverhampton Wanderers since being a boy. He enjoys motor sport (as a participant and spectator) and is a keen fitness fanatic.
