What is a Non-Cognate Applicant?

Non-cognates are graduates who have studied for a particular degree (i.e non construction related or non RICS / CIOB accredited), and have now decided to convert to a degree which leads to a professional construction qualification.

We offer, supports and encourages non-cognate applications. Why? Because we want to attract the best and brightest applicants from all avenues.

Many students enter into a degree without a clear view of what career they wish to pursue.

We recognise this and support those who are motivated enough to retrain as construction professionals - (Quantity Surveyors, Building Surveyors or Project Managers.)

What do you need to do?

Firstly, you will need to obtain a conversion degree. This is offered at a number of Universities and can be completed by distance learning or by day release. A list of accredited conversion courses and more information can be found at click here...

Do you have to have completed a technical degree?

No. Universities offering conversion courses accept applicants from a whole range of non technical subjects, and at different levels.

Do you get paid while you are converting?

We offer a full graduate training programme and support you through your study. We will assist you financially and offer moral support all the way through to chartered status.

Why do we encourage non-cognate applications?

We have recognised that attracting talent to our company, from whatever discipline or background, is what gives us the competitive edge. We know that our strength is in our people and investing in them is what makes us a market leader.
