Rider Levett Bucknall is set to provide cost engineering and quantity surveying for the decommissioning of Springfields nuclear site near Preston.
Since the 1940's, Springfields has provided nuclear fuel, chemical and mechanical fabrication for AGR and Magnox fuel, and conversion services for uranium hexafluoride.
The site, operated by Westinghouse on behalf of the owners, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA), is due to be fully decommissioned some time after 2031.
The QS's latest appointment follows a 16-year involvement in Springfields. the firm providing cost advice and strategy, tender documents, tender appraisals, post contract administration and final accounts, cost control and reports and claims management on projects and decommissioning work.
On this occasion Rider Levett Bucknalls will supply estimating and scheduling services for the capital and decommissioning activities at the Springfields site under a £2.5 million contract.
