Press Release
In Cardiff Construction and Property Consultant Rider Levett Bucknall is working with leading supermarket Waitrose in the fitting out of an industrial shell to construct a new branch. This project is different from others in which RLB has been previously involved on behalf of Waitrose because it is categorised as 'new build'.
Once a DIY store, the site is on a light industrial estate in the Welsh capital. The existing structure - the unit boasts a gross internal floor area of 37,500 sq ft, the fit out of which will translate into a Net Sales Area of approximately 24,500 sq ft - was chosen because of its suitability for the proposed change of use.
The current design proposals offer cost effective provision of the high quality Waitrose offer in an area not currently well served with branches of a similar nature. Rider Levett Bucknall, appointed in August 2007 to provide Quantity Surveying services, expect work to begin on the site in March 2008 and estimate for it to be completed by August 2008.
David Rush, a partner in RLB, is impressed with the cooperation that has continued to develop between his company and Waitrose during this project.
"The Project is the third and final scheme in the current batch of new Waitrose branches we are involved with," he observes, "New branch construction creates a raft of new opportunities for RLB to increase their profile with Waitrose and to play an increasing role in their ongoing success."
John Walker XXXX at Waitrose commented "I am really impressed with the time and hard work that the RLB team have devoted to this project. It's been a steep learning curve and they have handled it magnificently .Their response time to turn information around is a credit to them."
