We have the expertise to interpret, challenge if necessary and apply statutory and non statutory guidance to ensure that the optimum design solution is achieved without compromising quality or cost. Our extensive experience of working in the sector enables us to assist you in achieving the optimum accommodation solution for your learning and ancillary requirements.
We are able to translate basic functional data such as student numbers; FTEs course type, contact times or equivalent and develop desk top models to inform the design team as to quantum and type of teaching and non teaching space requirements
We are able to produce space models that will identify schedules of accommodation detailing teaching, non teaching, administration and infrastructure requirements that can form the basis of the design brief. It also facilitates the preparation of a shortfall analysis when comparing the model against existing accommodation which would then be a key driver for the preparation of option appraisals.
As an integral part of any option appraisal we are able to undertake assessment of the current accommodation to advise on its condition, functionality and suitability to deliver the education services for the foreseeable future.
We can assess the capacity of new or existing establishments to calculate their physical capacity usually represented by student numbers or equivalent.
We have experience of assisting in the process of site acquisition or disposal. This is a key consideration when considering new build solutions on new or existing sites.
We have experience of providing advice relating to Energy Efficiency to the private sector that is equally relevant to education establishments.
The Four Dimensional Cost Model is Rider Levett Bucknall's unique response to the pressures of collaboration, sustainability and the legislation driving energy savings to new levels.
The 4DCM is a fully dynamic whole life cost model where all variables can impact on one another. The fourth dimension is time.
The information is stored in a format that allows similar projects or options to be analysed using the same template of logic and pricing. There are approximately 400 variables (but no limit) that can be changed. "What if" calculations can be done by changing one, or more, variables by selecting a different "scenario" (group of variables). This gives consistency of approach and enforces a consistent logic and presentational format.
The 4DCM can calculate capital allowances, CO2 energy and water consumption in addition to the through life costs you would normally expect. The key is that a detailed through life cost breakdown is available at the inception of a project. This supports design decisions at a very early stage with essential sustainability measures in mind.
We are able to assist in the process of bidding for funds having successfully assisted LEAs Governing Bodies and Colleges in securing funding. We also work with a number of Banks and lenders and as such are able to assist in applying for loans
We can utilise our extensive range of capital lifecycle and FM cost data to assist in benchmarking or market testing exercise
