Collaborative Working

Rider Levett Bucknall's commitment to Collaboration goes deeper than words; it is embedded in our culture.

We had been actively involved in partnering and collaborative working contracts of various forms since the early 1990's. We were working collaboratively before both Latham and Egan wrote "Constructing the Team" and "Rethinking Construction."

Collaboration is more than a specialist service we offer, it flows through our approach to everything we do. We are experts in team building, maximising whole life value, benchmarking performance, capturing best practice and generating continuous improvement in both service and asset delivery.

We passionately believe that a culture of collaboration and co-operation together with a commitment to best practice and continuous improvement are essential to deliver the 21 Century construction performance standards that clients have a right to expect. The environment created provides true incentives for the whole team to work to maximise quality and optimise cost through life by innovation, benchmarking, and continuous improvement.

The case for collaboration and best practice is a compelling one; historically the construction industry has been dogged by adversary. Lowest price rather than best value has been the accepted financial benchmark and disputes and claims commonplace. Projects rarely completed on time or to budget, labour efficiency was poor and quality rarely achieved standards, which would be considered acceptable in any other industry.
