The legislation for Energy Performance Directive was passed by Parliament towards the end of 2007 after a lengthy process to comply with European initiatives on sustainable development and reduction in greenhouse gases.
In England and Wales Energy Performance Certificates (EPC's) are now required to most non-domestic buildings larger than 50m2 when selling, letting or constructing. Additionally all public owned or funded buildings over 1000m2 visited by the public now need to display a Display Energy Certificate (DEC).
Failure to do so could lead to your organisation being fined or a valuable letting being delayed.
We are keen to help our customers respond to the new legislation in a cost effective manner. Rider Levett Bucknall's capabilities in this area include:-
