Our Approach to CR

Corporate Responsibility (CR) is about how businesses align their values and behaviour with the expectations and needs of stakeholders - not just customers and investors, but also employees, suppliers, communities, regulators, special interest groups and society as a whole. CR describes a company's commitment to be accountable to its stakeholders.

CR demands that businesses manage the economic, social and environmental impacts of their operations to maximise the benefits and minimise the downsides.

Key CR issues include governance, environmental management, stakeholder engagement, labour standards, employee and community relations, social equity, responsible sourcing and human rights.

CR is not only about fulfilling a duty to society; it should also bring competitive advantage. Through an effective CR programme, companies can:

  • improve access to capital
  • sharpen decision-making and reduce risk
  • enhance brand image
  • uncover previously hidden commercial opportunities, including new markets
  • reduce costs
  • attract, retain and motivate employees

At Rider Levett Bucknall we understand that Corporate Responsibility involves more than making grand promises. We engage and consult with our staff, suppliers, clients, insurers, local communities and other key stakeholders. We know that doing the right thing matters. We go beyond saying so - we act to prove it.

We are acknowledged to be a Top UK Employer. This is recognised by listings in The Daily Telegraph sponsored Corporate Research Foundation's 'Britain's Top Employer' (#1) and the Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work For (#77)

We are an independent owner-managed business and corporate responsibility has been at the heart of our culture since the company was formed. There is clear corporate ownership and accountability for our Corporate Responsibility programme. The Board Director who takes responsibility in this area is AA1000 trained and certified.

We recognise that we have an obligation to carry out our activities in a responsible and sustainable manner.

Our aim is to contribute to a sustainable future through:

  • Our customers
  • Our people
  • Our suppliers
  • Our environment
  • Our communities
  • Our product and services
